Let’s Talk Race: Conversations on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for Nonprofit Leaders Facing Race and Equity Together (March 4, 2021 call)

3/4/2021

Call Recording: Join your nonprofit colleagues for discussions on the diversity, intersectionality, and inclusion issues facing the sector. These monthly calls are an important opportunity to connect with your colleagues facing similar challenges and opportunities, learn from one another's experiences, share ideas and best practices, and more.

This month's call: The Untapped Power of Women in Nonprofits, led by Terrian C. Barnes, Principal/Owner, Fe-smart LLC

Across the globe, March is recognized as Women’s History Month, highlighting the contributions and achievements women of diverse backgrounds have made across a variety of fields. Nonprofits are no exception.

  • Research has shown that nonprofits with women in leadership roles are more successful in realizing their mission and reaching their goals, and their employees are more satisfied with the organization’s overall performance.
  • Gender matters in philanthropy. Numerous studies have found women to be more public spirited than men, volunteering more and giving a larger share of their income to nonprofits.
  • Madam C. J. Walker’s Gospel of Giving, published in 2020, broadens our understanding of black women’s charitable giving and establishes Walker as a foremother of African American philanthropy.
  • Women’s political empowerment has resulted in a more developed nonprofit sector.

We'll explore ways to spur more positive changes for women in nonprofits, accelerate culture change for both men and women, and share ways you can make an impact during Women’s History Month.
