Exclusive KNN Member Benefit 



KNN offers free, monthly Governance Peer Huddles for member organizations’ staff and board members to engage in deeper conversation and move toward action and implementation on strengthening board governance practices. Using KNN’s Principles & Practices for Nonprofit Excellence in Kentucky tools as the basis for discussion, the Governance Huddle meets on the fourth Thursday of each month from 2-3pm ET. See below for dates.

The Governance Huddle offers KNN members a virtual opportunity to discuss recommended nonprofit governance practices with their peers and discussions are facilitated by governance expert and BoardSource consultant, Vanessa Womack. Topics include looking at governance recommended practices through an equity lens, achieving board diversity in meaningful ways, successfully engaging board members, addressing troublesome board relationships, the board and staff partnership, and much more. 

Participation in the Governance Peer Huddle is free and available exclusively for KNN members – join in the conversation!

Note: The Peer Huddle will NOT be recorded, and our hope is that if you/your organization is focused on strengthening your organization’s governance, that you will be a regular monthly participant. After registering, please mark your calendar for the dates below. Registering for one Governance Huddle will provide you with a Zoom link that can be used for all future Governance Huddle meetings.

We invite you to watch this brief video to familiarize yourself or refresh your understanding of the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) basics with Vanessa Womack, governance and DEI consultant, prior to participating in a Peer Huddle.

  • By joining the Governance Peer Huddle, you are making a commitment to be an active participant in monthly Huddle meetings. In order to maintain a brave space for open sharing and accountability, space in the Peer Huddle is limited. 
  • We ask that you participate in the Huddle with an openness to different perspectives, valuing a brave space for honest discussions where all opinions are honored. Strict confidentiality is expected of all Huddle participants.
